Question No fire to plugs

I bought a 92 4 runner automatic v-6. Turns over but won't start. I've got a friend who used to b a mechanic for Toyota who has got truck running twice even drove around block almost until started running ruff then died. Worked on it replaced a fuse or two and fixed some wire issues. Ran again but same thing almost around block an started running ruff then good again then back to ruff then died. Never started again since. We have concluded that no spark but getting power to distribute just not to wire . Any ideas

What you're saying makes no sense. Other than your friend who used to be a mechanic for Toyota can't figure it out. That's a given.

What do you mean power to the distributor? How'd you come to that conclusion?

Sounds like more of a fuel issue, than spark issue.
