1st gen runner manifold take down???

I've been searching and searching and maybe I just have not hit the right key strokes but I cannot seem to find a 22re intake manifold/airbox dis assembly walk through. Can someone please point me in the right direction.

I have already read my Haynes manual, read many forums about the hidden hex screw and importance of replacing the gaskets ect, I have researched just cannot find a walk through to give me a warm and fuzzy. Any help is appreciated.

I tried looking thru my threads seeing if I had any information that you were looking for and cant recall right off where to find what you are looking for. I have bits and pieces mentioned in my threads below that show things but not a step by step.

On the hex bolt that you are talking about, if you try to remove it with an allen wrench it will strip out. I get a good firm grip with a set of vise grips while using an allen wrench at the same time. I know I have that in one of my threads some where with a picture, just cant recall it right off which thread it is in.

Here is the allen bolt. Use some vise grips if it has never been removed before. I use the vise grips and allen wrench at the same time to loosen it. Get a firm grip but not so hard to distort the head. If you look you can see some grip marks on the head when I removed it.

You might try going thru my 88,86, or 85 Rebuild threads below for some information. The first pages I try to keep updated with information.

Thanks terry, the hex bolt info is helpful, I'll definitely be cautious with it when I get to it. I had tried going through a couple rebuild threads but it just seems everyone skips the manifold and intake in general when it comes to how to's. I'm not a complete novice with a wrench just want to be sure I'm doing this right haha! I've read too many horrors of stripping that Allen or other things like

if you don't remove it, you can't get the intake manifold off.
