3.0l spitting oil out of valve cover vent.
I have a 3.0 that I put head gaskets on. Everything went good. Ran it for a week and had no oil on the stick but not smoking out the exhaust or leaking any on the ground. Also noticed the vent on the driver side valve cover is spitting oil. Didn't have this problem before the head gasket went so why now? Runs great just using a quart a week in oil. Could I have done something wrong?

It's part of the same system. If the valve's clogged or stuck shut, then the vent has to do all of the work. As in crankcase ventilating. Which might explain what's going on. Or not. Worth checking IMO. Can't rule it out until you do.

The pcv valve is the easiest and cheapest thing in this system. Beyond that you have the possibilities of. Over filled oil, unlikely since you are checking it.
Worn rings causing excessive crank case pressures.
Valve stem seals, although they typically cause a burning oil issue but could also lead to crank case pressure.
Valve guides, same reason.
Head gasket failure do to improper installation or tears etc
Cracked head, cylinders etc. Basically anything that can add to the crank case pressure.

I never thought deep enough about the pcv valve to realize the concept till now. We will replace it for sure. The guy swears he didn't over heat it so I'm sure the heads are still good. I am pulling the valve cover also thinking that it may be something I can see. I am going to do a compression test too just trying to get a idea of what it could be cuz the owner owner is about to replace the whole motor but I don't think it's a problem that can't be fixed for half the price. Just can't pinpoint in my head what it could be with a legit explanation.
