Thanks for the Help here! I started to do a compression test. But my Tester was messed up an only getting 60lb, on the number one cylinder. So I went ahead an started tearing it down. I will keep everyone informed with pics. Because I think I'm gonna run into some Trouble especially the timing. This is the only Toyota Rebuild I've ever done! And it's my dd so it's got to be fixed.

No, I only did a compression test on the number 1 cylinder. My compression tester is ancient an not working right. I have done some research, I've gotten the manifold off but having trouble with the Intake? I have all the bolts off an still not budging. Is there a 6mm Hex Bolt holding it by the thermostat housing? That's what I've found online but I can not find it NO where! NEED HELP on this one.

Rebuild coming along. The head gasket kit I got didn't come with a rubber o ring for the metal pipe that connects to the back of the head an bolts up to the intake. I was lost because I thought that metal pipe was supposed to have a gasket on it before you bolt it up to the intake. I could not find that here on the forums no where so just letting anyone know that. If your doing a gasket job on a 22re that metal pipe that bolts to the bottom of the intake doesn't have a gasket. There's a rubber o ring that seats in the bottom of the intake.

I am assuming you are talking about the metal pipe on passenger side, above the fuel filter that connects to the intake. I get my O-rings from Oriellys. They have a selection usually behind the counter in a red box. You want to make sure that pipe is sealed well. It is a royal pain to fix if it leaks and when the motor is back together.

that's exactly what I was talking about had to go to the parts store an pick up a few things as in new fuel filter, o rings, new oil, oil filter, thermostat an gasket, new plugs an wires.

I got my 22re rebuild all back together after doing a head gasket job on it. Its getting fire but not starting. im not positive if i got the injectors plugged in where there supposed to go and the vacuum lines where there supposed. I could use some advice on this one im stuck, and frustrated as i don't know what.

Thanks OSV! I was wondering about that. My truck is running alright but has one Issue. Here's a pic of a plug on top of the valve cover which is White on that plug there's one vacuum line coming out the back. Where does that hook up to. When I took it for the first drive yesterday when I pulled up to a stop sign. The motor would shut off? Other then that it runs fine.

I believe that's your ac idle up vsv. It should have two hoses attacked to one side the other end should be breather (no hose) but should have a cover over that end. Google 22re ac idle up or vsv and you'll see what I'm talking about.
