axle spline confusion
Not sure if this is a simple question, or even posted in the right spot.
But, my question is about the switch from the stock 85 Toyota 3rd to the high pinion, I know the high pinion will fit into my housing, but does it use the same axles? or is it of a different spline count?

The entire diff is also a direct bolt-in to all front and rear axles that use an 8" diff.
Meaning...no other changes/modifications required. So your 30 spline axles will work.

They're different parts entirely. The pinion I'm refering to is the gear connected to the driveshaft which turns the ring gear. Together they're called the ring & pinion or final drive gears. They spin the differential, which spins the axle(shafts), which spin the wheels.
The term axle can mean the entire front/rear axle assembly(housing, 3rd, axleshafts, brakes). Or it can mean just a singular axleshaft.
The term pinion can also refer to the other pinion gears in the differential. As in a 2 pinion or 4 pinion differential. Which doesn't mean the 3rd has 2 or 4 ring & pinion gears. They are also different parts entirely.
It's all about context.
