I have been building a brand NEW 22RE over the last couple mouths. I have never broke in a new engine before. Any ideas on 1st 2nd 3rd? oil change. Road break in ? Some sort of direction would be great!!!!

Drive gently,no hard acceleration. Owner's manual should have all that covered.

Most ring break-in is done in the first 50 miles.

I like a fairly coarse final hone finish in the cylinders, between 220 and 300 grit works well for me.

I do 15 or 20 moderately hard acceleration-deceleration cycles in second or 3rd gear on the first time out, to seat the rings.

Max revs around 3000 or so, but no heavy loading on the engine.

I change the oil after a couple hundred miles, and again after a thousand miles.

Don't use synthetic oil for breakin, any ordinary 10-30 oil will do fine.

Many use a ZddP additive to assist cam breakin, It can't hurt to use it.
