1982 22R; Crank/No Start - Found a "torn" wire - can you identify?
Two days ago, I fired up my '82 pickup for the first time this winter. Ran great. Next day, crank/no start. Battery reads 12.6 and the relatively new starter is spinning the motor like a champ.
I did come across this and I am unsure of where it used to lead:
When my 83 had that happen, it was the ignition module. But not knowing how to test all those components, I first replaced my coil...then distributer...then finally the module. Module is expensive.
So the things to check are fuel and spark.
Is there fuel in the sight glass of the carb?
Then check to see if you have spark.
Once you find that either you aren't getting fuel or aren't getting spark, you can work back from there. Fuel side is pretty easy. Electrical side's a bit more tricky but still, it's an 82 and there are only so many parts.
I'm not sure that you have an O2 sensor but I kind of agree with Wyoming that it looks like maybe that wires been broken for a while. Could be a ground wire, though...I don't have that truck or engine anymore otherwise I'd go look at mine and see if I could find where that wire goes...
