I tow a small camper trailer with mine and I need better towing mirrors. I bought a set of the clamp on ones but they are junk. Any suggestions for some really good ones?

This guy recommends some a ways down the page. Not sure if they're the same as what you have or any better, but it's something else to check out. They're what I plan on getting once I buy a trailer. He seems to have really good advice in general, so I'm assuming they're decent.

 

Although I might actually try these...seem to have better reviews. I'm thinking, based on reviews, that a lot of it will come down to certain mirrors fitting certain vehicles better than others.

I put 5" round spot mirrors on top of the factory mirrors.

Since I pull tow behind welders all the time and need to back them into interesting places at times .

They work great I liked them so well I put them on the 4Runner also.

I can take a picture when it gets light if you want.

 

Yeah, I'd like to see that. I have the little, maybe 2" adjustable round blind spot mirror on my driver side. It makes a huge difference, but wouldn't be enough for towing a camper trailer I don't think.

 

This is my 2000 Tacoma .

With well over a Million miles dragging things around these mirrors are not bad

I like being able to see

The spot mirrors allow you to see your trailer clearances coming around right turns.

If I thought I needed full West Coast Mirrors I would install them

 

Whoa. That's definitely not what I was expecting. Are they attached with some epoxy and screws, or what? I just have the little stick-on blind spot mirror on my driver side mirror.

The mirror brackets are attached to a piece of ABS flat bar with a M8x1.25 thread tapped .

This allows for easy replacement if one gets broke.

Then I used plastic weld epoxy to attach the ABS to the mirror .

Then caulked around the ABS with clear silicone which I use for all kinds of things

They are on now for 2 maybe 3 years with no problems

Since my Truck gets to major construction projects I get lots of comments about those mirrors.

I am so used to just using the side mirrors I just needed to be able to see better .

I would venture I use the spot mirrors for 90 % of checking the mirrors

Now granted I have always been a function before fancy type of person so some might find this quite ugly

The other option I was looking at was mounting them to the front fender I decided on the mounting on the mirror

Well if you're regularly pulling a trailer and don't want to add true towing mirrors like some full-size trucks have, your setup is definitely better than the one's I linked. With those you'd be constantly having to take them off & back on again, which would get annoying.

I'm going to see if etrailer has any cyber monday sales...and maybe try out those removable ones. But there's part of me that thinks I should wait to see if I actually buy a camper trailer before I go buying too many "accessories" to towing...
