Hey Guys and Gals,

So, I've started having an issue with my transmission lately. Although, it's intermittent and doesn't necessarily make me think that a rebuild is needed. I don't want to take it to one of the shops we have here in ABQ just to have a mechanic tell me that I need to have the entire thing removed and rebuilt without giving it a second thought (most of the transmission shops here have horrible reviews). About 50-60% of the time, the transmission will go from 1st to 3rd with a clunk. I've tried shifting manually, but that doesn't make it any better. Like I said, however, it's intermittent. When it starts shifting normally, it'll continue to do it until I park and leave it for a while. I've read a few threads on here regarding solenoid issues and it does seem like that could be the answer. I just wanted to get your opinion before diving into that. If it is a solenoid, is there a pic or diagram that will tell me which solenoid controls the shifting from 1st to 2nd? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! BTW: It's a 1986 Turbo.
