I just bought an 87 and a 92 toyota pickup. I bought the 92 for $1500 and it runs but pretty rusty frame, i may keep it to play with and learn, not sure yet. These are my first 2 toyotas and I'm so excited and have been looking for a 22r or 22re for 3 years now. So... The 87 is the one I will keep for sure. I got it for $1000 and there is NO rust on the frame anywhere!!!! Yes i know, still trying to figure out what this guy was thinking. Probably something wrong I haven't found yet. So my main question is, I'm going to be buying a new weber carb from LCE very soon. The engine is a 22re and they got rid of the fuel injection system and put a carb on it. I'll take pics and update this. Will the Weber carb bolt on just like it would on a stock 22r motor? I know nothing about mechanics but I want to learn on this truck. Thanks guys

 

The motors are the same either fuel injected or carb. The Webber will bolt on. I have seen efi trucks converted to carb and usually it is a mess when they are done. They have bundles of wires everywhere and try to cut alot out of the way.

You could reverse this process and do it right https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...4-88-a-278925/ make it a true carb truck. Get all of the wiring from the same truck.

Webbers make these trucks so much easier to work on then with the Aisian carb. Having another truck to learn on and for parts is worth alot for what you are wanto to do.

Where they tried to make it carb to efi. I worded it bad. The thread is carb to efi but getting rid of the efi equipment in the thread you could make it a carb truck by reversing the thread.

Like you said that it is a mess. I have seen several trucks where they tried to get rid of the efi and it has always been a mess and usually problematic. To put all the correct wiring in the truck is a big job but is doable. A carbed truck with a Webber is so much easier to work on and gets rid of all of the emissions things. A friend of mine likes carb better and has converted several from efi to carb and uses only Webbers.

One or two pumps of the gas pedal and his trucks are some of the fastest starting Toyotas that I know of. He is a great mechanic on the efi as well but like he says, you dont have to deal with all of the sensors and things when going carb.
