Was done at 88k in 99 by dealership. The first owner only drove it till 107k in 2011 when I bought. It lasted till 151k just a few months ago.

The first time for me was back in summer of 09 and my Yota was bought in 07. Second time was this January 6 years later, uhhh.

The cause of this is a hotspot that builds up around cylinder #6 (which is the 3rd one on the right side if facing the engine) which is due to poor coolant flow in the back. Aside from replacing the HG again, some members have recommended in investing in a good pair of Exhaust Headers which should help with the issue or eliminate it completely. I got a nice set from my Dad when I rebuilt my engine from March to May.

First one done thru toyota recall at approx 99000 miles the second one done by myself at approx 200000 miles, so on average approx 100000 miles per set.

Ouch. What brand of gasket, and who installed it? Heads milled? New or reused bolts? Any overheating from thermostat or something?

My last HGs made it... about 100 miles because the jacka... em... previous owner put them on backwards right before I bought it. Waiting for parts to come in as we speak. Other than that, never had a single one go in 10 years of driving them.
