86 22r idle and vacume

Hi I have an 86 22r. I went to start my truck the other day and it started ran for a few seconds and then died I figured it wasn't getting fuel so I checked my fuel filter and dumped out a bunch of dirt n what not. I tried to start it again and it ran. I figured I would see if there was a secondary filter under the hood by the carb and seen what looked like two lawn mower fuel filters by the carb. I checked them I was able to blow through one end. the other filter thing was completely clogged. I tried taking the filter thing apart and I broke it. So I put the line back together without the filter thing and it started but when I pressed the gas lightly it sounded like I was giving it way more gas than normal. It had more power than normal too. I drove to O'Reillys like this and they said that the filter lookin thing I broke was a vacume valve or something. I got a new one and put it in and now it idles normal when cold and idles high when warm and even tried to die when warm.

A picture would help of the valve you are talking about. As far as I am aware of, the only fuel filters on the 22rs is one in the tank and one outside the tank.
