OK, don't get too awfully frustrated with me here, haha.
This is my first post here.
Also, my first truck to call mine. I'm learning how to fix things in my truck by just doing it essentially. I've already put a lot of time into this truck and it's a problem child. Seems every time I get something fixed, something else breaks.
I have a 1989 Toyota Pickup 4wd with a 3.0 V6 in it. Right now the power steering gear box is leaking pretty good. Now I've seen posts on here about the sector shaft seal being problematic for those who go off-road(which I do). But for the life of me I can't figure out where it is in the gear box or how to get to it. Do I need to take out the gear box completely? If so, can someone provide some somewhat dumbed down explanation of how to go about fixing this issue?

think you have the same steering box i used for my hysteer and this help me out when i rebuilt mine i got from a pull a part.

That's great! And makes sense too. Thank you, I appreciate it. Hopefully this fixes the leak. I still need to fix the TPS on it too. After that, and the gear box, it should be problem free for awhile.

 

HA HA, "problem free" and "i use it off-road" contradict one and other. Does not matter what brand you wheel, repair and maintenance will always be needed, but its all worth it on the trails. Trick is to leave something small unfixed so nothing else starts looking for attention.

 

So THAT'S the trick to it, haha. There's small problems a-plenty on this thing, so I've got that covered!��
