Need Help How Do You Spray Washer Fluid??

My names Janice im new here. I own a 1985 Toyota truck sr5. I cant seem to figure out how to spray washer fluid. I tried to pull the wiper stalk back like on modern cars it wont budge and does nothing. The letters on the stalk are faded beyond reading. Any help greatly appreciated just put new fluid pump in and cleaned reservoir out and refilled it. Sorry for stupid question, but its become dangerous when its snowing alot.

Lots of stuff could be bad. Sounds like you really don't work on cars much, you probably need to find someone to look into it. Or, give us a lot more detail with the problem.

I don't think the windshield wiper controls changed too much from 81 to 85,(I had an 84 a long time ago)
Anyway..right side stick coming out of the column, button on end

Janice, I have one trick for faded lettering if you have controls like Dropzone's above. You can take some white paint watered down a bit and spread it over the letters. Quickly wipe it off and some paint will settle in the engraved parts. They will now be legible. I've used white latex craft paint from Michael's which only cost $1 a bottle. It thins with water.

If you need an owner's manual for your new 4Runner I have bought them off eBay for about $15.

Thanks everyone! The button on end of wiper stalk is broke off on mine from looking at the above picture. So I took a bic pen cap and wedged a few cotter pins in to connect the exposed terminals and while it doesnt look pretty it now works. Just have to hold the pen cap up to it and it sprays away!

Time to hit the junkyard and get a ''new'' replacement.
