86 4Runner Install Invertor into cargo space
I wanted/needed to have a 110V outlet in the back of my Runner. I picked up a 400W invertor for @30 bucks at Harbor Freight which was all I needed. Now I wish I would've gone bigger, oh well. So the downside of the invertors is they have the on'off switch/reset switch embedded along with the lights that indicate On and Tripped. With a little work I popped open the invertor and removed those items. I then mounted the invertor inside the body just forward of the passenger side speaker location. I then used some wire to jump the switch and lights to a gangbox panel that I installed in that speaker location. I pulled the destroyed stock speakers long ago. I then wired in an outlet that plugs into the invertor all inside the body. Covered the outlet with a grey outdoor cover that goes well with my interior.
It works great for charging batteries for power tools, air matress and my small coffee maker
