Aftermarket steering column U-joints?

Both of mine are loose. The Toyota PN is probably 04371-10011, but I don't feel like paying 35 bucks (each) for a small U-joint. Size should be 20 x 57mm, outer snaprings, but I haven't measured yet. Does anyone know of a Moog/Federal/Neapco/whatever's readily available one that fits? None of my usual parts sources (eBay, Rockauto) know that fitment info or allow searching by size.

Rock Auto has 'em for way less than $10. I bought a couple of them and it seems to be a good part. 636 also bought a couple of them, and I think he installed them already. Ask him about it!

I can't find them in the Rockauto catalog. Are they called something else?

I don't know which category they are in, or what they were called. They sent me a list of parts based on my model and year, and it was in the list. Send them an email and tell them your truck info. If they still have 'em, they'll find the part number.

Search my build thread - some where around early February 2014. I think I put the part numbers in there somewhere, if not I can scrounge through my receipts to find them. I ordered them from Rock Auto. I believe that you want to search for "spider joints." When I got mine they were actually Japanese parts so I was pretty stoked about that.

I thought Dave would find it...Have you seen his build? Like a new truck, but better than original now!

$4 for a universal! Wow that's inexpensive, and even has a grease Xerk. Nice.

And it is a Japanese u-joint too! Let me know if you can't find something - I've pretty much scoured the interwebs for the majority of parts for these trucks. Pretty much everything is available somewhere other than a lot of the interior and some miscellaneous body parts.

How about the front clear corner lenses? I found the marker lights, the rear turn/brake/reverse light assemblies, and the front turn signals too, but I couldn't find those corner lenses on the corner of the light bezel.

The are new old stock corner lenses on eBay. If not, I have a set of aftermarket cheapies that you can have

They were in the Drivetrain section, buried among the other couple dozen U-joints. I had been looking in the Steering section, which is where, you know, one would expect steering parts to be...

I found the two I got from Rock Auto in my "inventory", and they are the same Beck Arnley parts (1020288). They have the logo "GMB" and Japan marked on the sealed bag inside the box and Made in Japan on the outside of the box. Both of them have the xerk grease fitting loose in the bag with the circlamps, but I see the threaded port in one of the ends of the cross to install the xerk. And, it has a GMB logo AND Japan embossed in steel around the threaded Xerk port!

I looked in the drivetrain section and yup, there they are, exactly where you described. I didn't have to search for them last year, because Rock Auto sent me a customized list of parts thay have for my truck. I got the wholesaler closeout (indicating 10 left now) last year too. I guess they are not gone yet. Cheap at $4 each.

I googled GMB 1020288, and I get links to an "engine auxilary shaft seal" (120-0288). One exception... stockwiseauto.com which has it listed as universal joint for ~$14, and ONE left in stock, listed as a Beck Arnley part.

Rock Auto has good drivetrain parts in that category, like the complete differential rebuild kits for as low as $100 (Koyo) or $145 (Timken). Lots of transfer case and driveshaft parts too. It looks like you can still rebuild the entire stock drivetrain.

They are the right u-joints - I wouldn't "steer" you wrong (pun intended).
