Today 4 of us from the board got together and did some wheeling on a private site. Participating was Steve(windy bloke) with his Hilux Surf, Mark(Mark from the UK) also in a Hilux, Luke(Luke) with his UK spec runner, and myself. The going was tough this morning as the island is experiencing gale force winds today. There were 50-60mph gusts all day and with lot's of tires spinning there was lots of flying dirt that was like being sandblasted in your face. Anyways the site was good and had something for all skill levels. I didn't drive a whole lot because of my broken arm, so I played camera man. The hill climbs were great and there were mud and water holes that swallowed several land rovers which there was an over abundance of. Aside from an old land cruiser we were the only Toyotas. No one broke anything so it was a good day. Mark had a near rollover and Steve got both back tires airborn on a downhill which was pretty exciting! Overall it was a good day!
Here are a few pics:
From right to left:Mark,Steve,Myself,Luke
Here's Mark getting straightened out after his near rollover. Notice the camel trophy land rover waiting to come down the hill.
I took this from atop the hill. You can see there were lot's of different rigs there.
This hill was a formidable opponent. Steve never did make it up. We didn't air down today which would have helped.
For the rest of the pics I stuck them in a webshots folder. Click here
