Wierd Carb Issue
So i have a 82 pick up with stock carb i rebuilt last year, last week did a 2 inch body lift, once finished it ran fine, but yesterday the idle was kinda high 2000-3000 rpms, did have time to check it till today and found out the carb some how sucked a piece of para chord stuck down the left barrel, hence holding the throttle open
. now i thought i solved the problem, just remove the chord and it will be fine.
(im guessing that while i was doing the lift i removed the air cleaner and i missed the chord when putting the thing back together.)
when i start it up from a cold start the idle is normal and fine but as it warms up the idle increases just above normal around 1500-1700 rpms. not as high but not normal.
mod info
high idle arm detached from choke never worked
idle cut off switch patched to ground for key switch on and off.

""high idle arm detached from choke never worked"" Could it be you moved the arm and interfears with idle somehow??? Sounds close enough you could just readjust carb? ....whats a "para cord"?
With my stock set up a few times a year have to spray the carb and lube the linkage cause things start to stick keeping revs up at idle. I've never oiled or grased the trottle cable, might be a starting place for me at least? I might try forcing some silicone lube in there...
