1981 1st gen L-52 slave cylinder help

+I have a 1981 toyota 4x4 longbed with an L52. When i first bought it i had to replace the master and slave cylinder because they both had gone bad.i got a slave cylinder from an auto parts store around here for an 81 and had troubles getting it on and have never been able to get the clutch to engage/disengage properly since. I'm trying to figure out which slave cylinder i need but my buddies and i are stumped. every morning i have to pump the clutch for 5 minutes before i can even get it into gear. I'll also attach a pic of my id plate for references. I also just ordered a stainless steel clutch line kit from Marlin as well as a new shifter seat, i'm just not sure which slave cylinder ill need. Thanks!!!

i've also bench bled the slave and master cylinder. My fluid is always dirty when i bleed it which is why im changing the line, but im still stumped on which slave i'll need. I have heard that 81-95s have the same slave cylinder but the one i bought for an 81 didnt fit properly with my clutch fork and needed mods to even work. We basically combined the old slave and the new one so i could drive temporarily. Surprisingly it lasted months but recently i cant drive 10 minutes without having to pull over and pump the clutch

Man I have changed three of these over the years and never seen one that bolts too the fork. Mine all have just had a smooth rod no bolting. Mine all have had tips like this. However too be fair two where on 83's and one on a 89'.
What I do is install it then gravity bleed it. then do a normal bleeding of it.

Same thing for me, it pushes on the fork. You might be able to adjust that to make it work. Try loosening all the way and tightening all the way to see if any setting makes it work.

P.S. your truck is a Deluxe model (dlx) and was built 8 months before my 81 which is also a dlx.

Thats exactly what we did to get the current slave to work. we had to adjust the fork out all the way and there is barely any travel. maybe i have a strange fork set up? or it was built during an odd month that has the old style slave. my buddy's 4 speed 80 has a slave that bolts to the fork as well (i think)

Possible, I'll let others chime in because I'm not sure, you should check your buddy's truck on how it is. I have a 4 speed l45, what transmission do you have?

Heres a video of the slave in action after i pumped the pedal enough to get pressure. does it look like it has enough travel? and of course i cant drive the truck around on the first day of snow this season

No I don't beleive this is enough travel, is it bled well are you 100% sure? It could be that simple. If it is bled well, check part numbers on rockauto.com or order one from there to make sure you have the correct model.

my slave looks like yours on my 4 speed. those bolts are not supposed to be bolted to fork. they are supposed to be on the engine side of fork. the acorn runs pressed to the fork, the other is a jam nut, to keep acorn from backing out. you want a picture? you have a good slave, just needs to be fine tuned. definitely not enough travel. surprised you have any thing.

EPC shows 4 variations on the slave cylinder. Mine is an 1980 4 speed. Your fork looks notching like mine. I think you have correct slave, but wrong ram-rod. but maybe because there usually isn't a hole there but a bowl shaped indentation, that the end of the rod rest in on fork. you also dont have the tower to hang the return spring on. Weird

Take that acorn bolt off re-install like mine. washer it up if you have too, so it doesn't slip back through fork. you'll have a clutch. I gravity bleed first too, then get bud to help you finish off.

In my 80 TSRM it shows the adjustable one like mine for 4wd and the other without spring, or threaded rod for 2wd. My slave, and fork are specific for 4wd application. not sure on other years. my fork is cast instead of stamped also. there is a tower on my slave cylinder that my spring attaches to, and hole drilled at end of fork.

you have the throw rod bolted to the fork ? ... it shouldn't be .
the nut you have on the back side should be on the other side , and there is an indent in the fork for it to fit into ...

.
