Changed terminals and battery, no power

Changed terminals and battery, no power
So I've been teaching myself how to fix my 1992 4Runner so I don't know a ton. There are a few details to this problem so I'll bulletpoint everything. Status of power/starting is italicized.
- Recently the cable from the positive terminal to the junction box snapped. I was working long shifts and literally had zero time to fix it so I would just tap the wire to the terminal to start the engine
- Yesterday I changed the connection ring for the junction box wire. Everything got power, car wouldn't start (single click when trying to start) only started on a jump
- Today I completely swapped out the terminals, with wires cut back and any corrosion removed. There was power initially and after trying to start there was no power
- Bought a new battery, figuring that was the problem. Now there is no power at all
What could be the problem? It's been quite frustrating trying to figure this out. Thank you in advance.

Since you did not give any real voltages I venture to say it is time to buy a multimeter.
Not having any measurements of voltages it is impossible to know where your problem is.
Could be the new battery is defective.
Poor connections .
Connections clean and tight??
Just how did you break this are you talking about the engine compartment fuse block??
What other damage may have happened with this loose cable floating around ??
Have you checked for open fuses or other loose connections??
At any time had you charged the battery with a charger??
We all learned some things through trail and error you have no help close at hand??
