Marlin Crawler Shifter Bushings = AWESOME!

My 4Runner shifter had been super sloppy since I put it back on the road. It felt like I was driving my fathers 81' K30 dump truck with a 3' long shifter!

I ordered up a set of Marlin's bushings. It consists of a Delrin shifter seat and a Nylon socket. Links:

My existing shifter seat was so worn it basically looked like a o-ring. The nylon socket wasn't even where it was supposed to be! It had cracked and then slid halfway up the shaft!

Install was super easy and it now shifts great. No excess play whatsoever. It feels like it is probably better than it came from the factory. Every shift is right on the money and its easy to find 5th again!

Best $25 I've ever spent. Now once I get the GL5 out of the gearbox and replace it with Redline MT-90 GL4 it will shift like a Ferrari!

+1 on the Marlin Crawler shifter bushings. My 5-speed hasn't popped out of gear once since I put them in last year.

I changed out the shifter seat on my 89, its amazing the amount of slop it corrects in the stick

What's weird is that there is no mention of it in the FSM. I wonder how many people replaced transmissions when they only needed bushings.

Agreed, I thought my tranny was bad, it wouldnt stay in 1st gear unless I physically held it in the forward position, if I let go it would pop out.
