This weekend I will be picking up some mounts for the back seat and a tailgate.

That's is how it was the day I got it. I started cleaning it up and removing the bad workmanship.

Get a seat with built in seatbelts. I can't recall right now, but one from a Taurus wagon maybe.

Get s 1st gen roll bar and attach the belts to that? Would be good to have some protection back there too. Youll have to shorten to of the legs on the stock 1st gen bar to get it to fit correct IIRC.

I am going to close it in, so I can't do a roll bar. I am also using the factory seats. I just need to remount them. I noticed that the factory belts have the ratchet mechanism at an angle. Does that matter?

Yes, with many retractors, the angle must be extremely close or they'll lock and not extend.
