Hello everyone I am new to yotatech. Just recently purchased a 1994 toyota pickup truck with a 22re with ac. No power steering and no tilt wheel. It is a 4x2. I have searched and looked at threads for adding power steering and tilt wheel. I am so confused and honestly do not know where to start I have a headache and anxiety from looking. I understand I have to switch the whole steering column but do I get the one with power steering or without? And also since I want to add power steering is that something that I can upgrade or will I need the 4x2 steering column with tilt wheel and power steering or without the power steering? Barely got the truck and put a new muffler already. Blower motor fan and a car wash! thank you so much guys!

Wow this is not quite as simple as you seem to hope.

If you wanted power steering and a tilt wheel why did you not get that in the truck you were buying.

For power steering you need the power steering steering box, The pump with all the lines and brackets and the extra pulley and idler gear to drive it and of course the belt

the steering columns are just the tilt and non tilt versions but I have never been up close and personal with a 2wd pick up I could be wrong.

 

Ok thank you very much! I bought the pickup for 900 bucks! Killer deal original owner. Ac blows cold and 200,000 miles. Original paint and clean title. I use it mainly for work and running errands. I have a 2006 tacoma sport double cab and to be honest this truck is more enjoyable and fun to drive other than no power steering.

So in order to get the tilt I would have to get the tilt steering column?

 

Need the PS pump and such; don't need to get the tilt steering.


Might want to upgrade the steering damper but that's not necessary.
