I have a 1993 toyota pickup that is showing a 149000 miles. Had it for 4 years and never had a problem. As of lately it wont run right. It will start up fine drive it for a few minutes and it starts surging losses power and starts sputtering. Then it will run fine for a minute and do the samething. The service engine light comes on and starts flashing. I have changes the mass air flow sensor, pluugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor buttom, ignition coil and it still acts up. Took it to the shop and the guy said he thinks its the engine control module. I have talked to several other people and they dont think thats it. Any suggestions??

What code(s) is the Check Engine Light (CEL) generating?

 

read up on here about how to check the codes, but basically you jump teminals t1 & e1 in you diagnostic port, turn your key to on and your engine light will flash in a sequence (1flash, pause 4flashes, would give you code 14),search on here for what each code means and then you will know where to look
