DANA 60's and 38" ONLY 4:10s?????

Ive got some dana 60's with 4:10 gears and 38.5" tires. They're going into a 93 runner and Its gonna suck with the 4:10's until i re-gear, but im planning to replace the 3.Suck with a 3.4. Will the extra maybe 40 lb-ft of torque even make a slight difference? Anyone have experience with running a messed up arrangement like this?

Im going to re-gear eventually but I'll want to do lockers and axles at the same time. she's just got a stock 16 spline OEM locker in the rear axle right now.

It's going to suck even with the 3.4. Never personally ran a combo like that, but I can only imagine.

youll be able to get around but rarely get out of third gear. i had 38's on my truck in high school with stock gears and 22re. it sucked and 60 was the top speed on a flat road. with the extra weight of the tires and axles themselves its going to suck bad. gears are your friend but i guess if you dont drive it much on the street and have dual cases off road should be fine.

I don't think it'll be too bad. It will depend on the transmission choice as well....

My 4Runner ('92 4.3/700R4, 4.10s, 35s) does great, I have absolutely no desire to regear.

When you're talking about peak numbers, the 3.4 and CPI 4.3 are pretty similar (190hp @ 4800 v 200hp @ 4500, 220 lb/ft @ 3600 v 260 @ 3600, respectively). I haven't driven anything with a 3.4, and don't recall seeing power graphs for either....

At 60 mph, it's turning barely over 2000 rpms, even with the torque converter unlocked. So if you've got a 5 speed, you might not be using 5th.....at all.
