I'm installing 2" BJ spacers on my pickup. I have the ball joint disconnected from the upper control arm. The problem I'm having is that the suspension is unsupported so it's dropped completely. When trying to reconnect back up to the upper control arm, it won't properly situate in the slot because of the sag in the suspension. I'm wondering how to move the upper control arm so that I can fit it back together properly? It doesn't seem to want to budge but it will have to move upward in order to get pieced it back together. Anyone know how to move it??

Use a Jack!!

Without looking I Don`t recall just where to place .

It has been a few years .

If I remember I put some blocks in to keep it supported before taking things apart.

 

you were supposed to put a wedge between your upper control arm and frame. before taking the ball joint off.

 

a floor jack with a small 2x4 pushing upward on the a arm will do it. that's how I do it for installing spacers and putting in cv's

 

Just be careful not to lift the truck off your stands then have the bored slip

 

like said, use a jack to lift the UCA, then wedge a piece of wood between the UCA and bump stop...or use a ratchet strap.

 

If it dropped to much it may have pulled your cv joint out. I did the same thing the other day installing my on the first side. I had to pull the boot off to get my cv joint back in. Learn on the other side to use a floor jack and not let it fall more than what i needed it to so i could get the spacer in there.
