Idle/Fuel Cut Solenoid Bypass

Idle/Fuel Cut Solenoid Bypass
Had a bad one causing my 22r to not idle properly. Cut the wires to it, removed it from the carb, cut the plunger off with bolt cutters, and threaded it back in. Truck runs great now, never diesels even when hot, fuel economy 22-26. My question is whether or not I'm ruining a component or part of the engine/carburetor that I'm not aware of, or if there are any downsides and what they might be, especially interested in the opinions of others who have bypassed the solenoid as well.
