hey yall i got a 1980 toyota truck and the igniter went out.iv replaced it once and i was exnsive and hard to find so... i bought d.u.i distributor.my thing is what is the best way to wire fom my ignition switch to the distributor .color of wire i should be lookin for from my harness or if i can use a wire that went from my igniter.sorry for the dumb question but me and wiring dont get along at all.plus its a rats nest under the dash .any help would be great !

 

A hanes manual has proven to be invaluable to me in my endeavors into wiring. I also have a 1980 20R that im rewiring atm. If your system is the same as mine the brown lead that runs into the ignition control module will be a switch ignition voltage that should be fused. You can probably tab into that brown lead if you need to power your dist. Just make sure you have good contacts and shrink tube any open connections for better corrosion sealing. also always verify you have a good ground connection with your new wiring.
