wiring harness clips

Im preparing to swap out the bed of my 89 4x4 pickup. Can I just buy new wiring harness clips? Or do I need to try and remove each one - carefully without breaking. And where can I buy new if I need to?

Technically, yes. Practically, not so easy.

There's a part number for every part, including the clips, so you may be able to get each one from the dealer. But I'm sure they don't stock them, so each will have to be ordered, and even if they're only $5 or $10 each it will add up in a hurry.

Dorman makes a lot of equivalent clips, and your local parts store might have a display. Again, a lot of work trying to find something that is "close."

So yes, you really want to do your best to save each one. My advice: heat. Use a heat gun on very low, or even a hair dryer, to gently warm them before you try to open one. Much less likely to crack.

Many of the clips appear to be nylon. Tom Taylor of RockAuto suggested boiling them in water for a few seconds to rejuvenate them. I've never tried it myself.
