Considering the ZUK mod using Jeep springs I've found for a steal on craigslist. The deal also comes with new Jeep stock shocks that were removed when lifting. The front shocks are nowhere similar to the Toyota (92 pickup), so I won't consider that. However, the rear shocks have very similar dimensions (I'm piecing this info from the Rancho website for stock replacement part numbers and Jegs which has dimension info).
For the rear shocks (Rancho part number RS5180 (Toyota), the stroke, collapsed, and extended lengths are 7.9 13.6 21.5 inches, and the Jeep RS5328
8.1 14.5 22.6).
They have basically the same stroke length, but the jeep shocks are 1" longer either collapsed or extended.

Questions. These are coming with the springs for free. Is it a good idea to switch them for my old shocks? Would you do it?
If there are problems, I'll keep my old ones to reverse this. What should I be listening and watching for if the Jeep shocks aren't compatible?

 

An inch difference is pretty significant, I wouldn't swap em. Also the performance of stock jeep isn't going to be much better than your stockers.

What will the effect be? Reduced dampening and/or rough ride? Damage to the truck? Early failure becaused they will be compressed by an inch all the time?
