new 20r need advice

Ok I just got a rebuilt 20r that I'm gonna swap into my first gen, well mine has the double row 22r now and the block is just tired, but anyway he 20r I got doesn't have the boss for the mechanical fuel pump so I'm guessing I need to either put in a electric pump or try to find a 20r head that will take the mechanical pump. I just need advice on how to get fuel to it if I go with what I have now how do I make it work so I can keep my weber carb I'm just confused on that part, will ot even work or do o need to find another head.

My 20r head is the same, I bought a holley low pressure fuel pump, you need to mount it lower than the fuel tank (wich sucks if you off-road) because it is a push type not a pull type (pushes the fuel, not made for pulling it). You will also need a fuel pressure regulator (guess you already have one since you are running a weber), a fuel filter between the pump and the tank, a fuel pump relay and holley recomends you buy the oil pressure cut-off switch (fuel pump stops working when there is no oil pressure). That is pretty much all I can tell you right now, mine isn't wired and I haven't ran it yet.

It is up to you to decide what is best, sell your rebuilt 20r head and get another one wich accepts the original fuel pump and get it rebuilt too, or go the external pump way. I think suncomb runs an aftermarket fuel pump and explained it really well in an old thread. Maybe you can contact a machinist and he get modify the head to accept the oem type pump since I think the bosses are already in the casting.

I beleive it will bolt straight up, many people put the aluminum rockers in the 20r head. As far as the relay goes I wouldn't want to misguide you, my girlfriend is really good at all things electrical and when I showed her the diagram that came with the holley pump she said ''easy'' so I'll let her wire it up.
