Hello , I have a 98 4runner sr5 4x4 3.4 , and I'm having issues when I have been driving for around an hour . it runs fine , then all the sudden I'll stop at a light or stop sign , then the rpms seem to drop a slightly and it will have a rough idle . if I give it gas it will start to idle good for a few , but starts to shake and will die if I don't give it gas in time . I've replaced plugs ,cleaned maf , checked the airbox/throttle intake tube , sprayed a little carb cleaner in the intake . still doing the same thing. Starting to think it might be the IAC ? The part that throws me off track is how it runs fine for an hour or so ... Weird . if anyone has any ideas or similar experiences , I'd like to hear em . thanks

 

IAC or TPS. There's no code?

 

No check engine lights , would there still be a code if no light ?

I called auto zone the said no light , no code . idk he sounded kinda like he didn't know . but I've read you can clean the IAC , can you clean the tps ? Or buy a new one ? , I didn't know about a tps , but that sounds like something I need to look into .

 

I have a 99 4 runner with 208,000. I have done the same cleaning but have not cleaned tps or IAC. Weird! Today mine did the exact same type of thing runs good for an hour or so and then begins to drop rpms and stalls out. It does this with and without the AC. Any help is much appreciated.
