1st Gen Taco CrewCab Pre-runner Transmission swap
I did a search on auto to manual swaps found alot of articles but seems only one was close and it was a secition in a 4-runner thread about swapping.
I have never been a fan of Autos in trucks, or many "extra" features for that matter.
My last Taco was s 95.5 DX Supercab 3.4L 4x4 and I think the only options it had on it were the shift on the fly axle, sliding rear window and cruise. it had manual trans, manual windows, manual locks and the AM/FM 2 channel stereo. I wish I had kept it.
I am once again in the market for a compact pickup(which even the newer Tacoma has gotten too big for me to classify as a compact) but would like a crewcab so I can replace my current sedan completely
I am looking at the 2002 to 2004 CC prerunners but it looks like they were not available with a manual trans. I live in Florida now and really see no need for 4x4 and the 2WD will get better fuel mileage.
If I find a decent one and can source an s-runner transmission, pedal assembly and all other needed stuff how much work and is it even possible to swap out the Auto with the Manual. To take it a step further I would love to find a modern diesel that would also bolt right in.
Thanks
Thanks.
