Simple under bed tire mount ideas?

Hey all -

I searched and read many threads on retrofitting later model cable hoists and many more threads on building rear tire swing carriers and bumper mounts etc.

My factory cable chain hoist seized some time ago and I have just mounted the tire in the bed of my truck as I have never been able to get the existing hoist to work again.

I need the space in the bed now and want a simple solution to mounting my 31" spare under the bed. Anyone have a simple solution? I don't mind doing some simple fab work - but would like to keep the cost cheap and time low...

Thanks!

So everyone just gets their original hoist holder working?! Read a good tech article on that with using washers and a socket/impact combo...

Someone must have come up with a simple solution - aside from ratchet straps etc... to hold the tire under the bed without the factory setup! No?

Give it some time you only posted yesterday!!

I have yet to find a good under the truck mount.

Then the places I might need to change a tire the last Thing I want to do is crawl under the truck.

I Tow equipment and am always loading stuff in the bed so I just Gave up mounted the spare up right against the window guard.

Making sure the valve stem is easy to reach How many will crawl under the truck to check the air in the spare.

Here in the great Salt Belt I have yet to see any under bed tire mount work To keep it working it should be lowered once a week.

I wish you luck in finding something that is simple and will work no matter what .

My original chain hoist still works in my '85, but most of my other older vehicles have had them either mounted behind the tailgate or upright in the bed.
