many people tell me sas makes it a rough ride compared to ifs, does it really make it that much more rough??

unless your going to go rock crawling i'd go with a long travel ifs either blazeland or total chaos.

do some research. cost for each option.
it all depends on what you want your rig to do and how good it will do it.
