85 4runner clutch release bearing
I'm replacing the clutch in my 85 4runner. It has the 22re and from research, I've concluded it has the w56a transmission (like it is supposed to) but the clutch release bearing that my local napa gave me with the clutch kit doesn't work. Every parts store all shows it takes the bearing that was supplied but I have a different type. I got a sealed bearing in the kit. My old bearing is cased inside of a housing that has two flat ears on either side that sits against the clutch fork and is held in place by a single piece of wire. The parts man looked up a throw out bearing for a 95 tacoma that looked to be what I have but I just want to make sure I am putting the right bearing in. I've only owned the vehicle for about a month but it appears to have a factory engine and transmission type so I'm stumped how it wouldn't have the same release bearing type?

Sounds like you are talking about the bearing with the orange seal on it. The one that I prefer. Here is the part number and bearing that I found on ebay. Try just the part number in ebay or at the dealer or a Toyota parts site.
Copied...
I know I am going to need a new clutch assembly. I just got the Toyota Throwout Bearing(31230-35070-77) for $3 and $5 shipping off of ebay. I see them on the web anywhere from $40-$90. Just got to keep your eyes out for the good deals.
