1999 Tacoma oil change

Hi all. Long time lurker with a question here. I have searched everything and still haven't found the answer. Does the skid plate need to be removed in order to drain the oil on a 99 Taco TRD 4x4? Also, where is the filter located? Is it accessible from the top or bottom. I quickly glanced under the hood and I didn't see the filter, so I am guessing the skidplate would have to be off? I searched, but most everything just said it was a PITA to get to. If this is a repost, can someone just give me the link to the thread so I could find out?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: It's the SR5 V6.

The Taco just got home and I answered my own question. This is also my first real complaint about this truck. Oh well, can't be perfect I suppose.

Yup, getting that filter off is a PITA!

Get an amsoil bypass filter setup, or one of those filter relocation kits, makes your life much easier...
