Has anyone used the Air Lift brand air bag setup on their 3rd Gen T4R? I just picked up a 97 4 Runner with a small amount of sag in the rear, but it is not so bad that it really hurts it. I was looking at what a set of Air Lift bags would do to the truck. Air Lift has a set for the rear (Part No. 60743) that fits into the rear coils. I was wondering if anyone has tried them?

I have the Airlift system on my 1996 4Runner. They restore ride height but not ride quality. I have mine plumbed independently to combat the driver side lean and the stock rear bumper already has perfect diameter holes for the schrader valves. I am a cyclist so I always carry a bicycle tire pump with me that works great for adjusting air pressure. If you do get the Airlift system the perfect gauge is linked below. 35psi is the max for both the gauge and the bags so gauge resolution is optimal and the bleed off feature is great.



Overall I am pleased with the system.

 

I used bags for a few years, as a way to offset sag when hauling/towing heavy loads. It worked great for adjustable load leveling...air up when I need it, let it out when I don't. I eventually upgraded my suspension to a stiffer spring, have not bothered with the airbags since.

 

When you finally upgraded to a stiffer spring, were you giving your Runner a lift, or just restoring it to factory height? Right now, mine has a very slight droop in the rear, and I am not interested in a body lift, yet. I have it as a snow beater for going to work.

 

I went with a lift. Currently running Superflex rear springs as part of the toytec ultimate lift kit. It's about 4 inches of rear lift.

 

never used a full airbag system in my runner, i've have air bag helpers for the rear springs when i tow my sled trailer in da winter.. seems fine no sag and no noticeable performance decrease beside from a trailer.

 

That is what I was talking about. The Air Lift bag system is a helper bag inside the rear coils to assist in controlling droop when hauling a load.

 

ahh sorry i thought you were meaning something different.
my setup did not require an air tank or pump. it has two valves that go to each side.

 

Mine came with bags installed, handy for when trailering a toungue heavy load. The compressor was shot, so I found an air suspension compressor from an old Lincoln and mounted it under my seat. (Out of the weather !)

Something has recently started leaking in the system and when I get a proper lift, I will get rid of the bags instead of replacing them.

 

Had these on mine when I bought, I've had the on craigslist and can't get rid of the things

 

I've had mine in for a few years now and love them to death. I have the LC coils in back and with it being loaded with recovery gear and other stuff plus towing an 22' travel trailer it's a perfect fit! Highly recommended from me!
