Help me remove my body lift: Seattle Area
I live in Fremont, and I am looking for someone who is local and can help me remove my body lift.
I bought this truck cheap and need to get rid of the body lift. Its a 1977 body on a 1987 chassis. I am wondering if anyone in the area has removed one and has the space/time to help me do mine. I don't have a garage (garage in picture is at my old house) or driveway, or a high lift jack. I am confident that I can do the job myself, but I don't have the jacks or place to do it. I know there are lots of you Toyota guys out there, and lots of them would love to see another trashy body lift removed.
If anyone is interested, email me with an offer. Let me know how much you want to charge. I will be there to work with the person. If you want the body lift, we can work that into the deal. I am going to order the stock hardware and new bushings soon, unless you have a spare stock set of these laying around?
also I have a good set of 33x12.5 r15 rims and tires for sale. $350 or best offer.
Wildcat LT's with 80% tread
This is an easy job and could be easy money for someone.
Thanks for any response,
Dave

I was thinking of doing that. I just don't have a place to do it. Or anyone to help the 2x4 pitches out! haha. If I can't do it up here, I will have to do it when I move back to Utah in a few weeks. A shop up here quoted me 3-4 hrs @ $65/hr + bushings and hardware.
looks like its 2x4 and a jack. did you do one side at a time? and loosen all the bolts on that side? or all at once?

i've also removed a BL doing the jack and 2x4 method by myself in a driveway. I think I also had a hi-lift but no armor to lift from so i used a 2x4 under the rear fender lip (this was on a k5 blazer). definitely do one side at a time, it's much easier - but you can loosen the bolts on both sides first, just don't pull them out on the side you're not addressing.
i would probably try using a jack with a 2x4 along the pinch weld/rocker area since it's fairly strong especially with a long piece of wood spreading the load. good thing about doing stuff to a BL is that the frame will keep the rig from falling on you should your jack decide to slip out (as long as rig is still on it's wheels).
depending on how tall of a BL you're removing you may likely need new bolts that are shorter. also consider putting in new body bushings while you're in there. don't forget to either use nylocks or loctite on all your hardware so it stays put.
