Sulfur smelling exhaust, idle issue after spark plug & plenum remove/install
#1
Hey everyone thanks for taking a look: 3vze 4wd 92 pickup
I took it apart to fix an oil leak from the passenger side head cover and PCV valve replacement (the suspected culprit for the black oil leak and recurring gasket failure).
I put it back together as accurate as i could, with new spark plugs too while i was in there. I noticed the plugs were at 30mm but was too lazy to adjust. prolly shouldnt matter
Now it idles a bit rough with a sharper noise, and the exhaust smells of sulfur.
Also, when i downshifted, it evenly jogged the deceleration rather than a smooth deceleration. Misfire?
I think there is a leak in the EGR tube coming loose from so many repeated removals.
BTW - i noticed that there is no egr temp sensor
Anyway, It used to purr quite softly as idle and sound consistent. And it just snowed, this sucks. I would really appreciate advice!

I would definitely re gap the plugs, its fairly easy to do, and may solve the problem partially.
Sounds like a bad or failing cat converter, or too rich condition (cat not "converting" all of the sulfur in the exhaust to sulfur dioxide.), although i'd think you'd notice black smoke coming out of the pipe.. Just my .02 though.

Hi
agree with previous answer also i would check all spark plugs have top cap screwed on tightly and leads click when pushed on to plugs and dizzy cap.had exprinced this when so called dealers have serviced car. now do all my own servicing. i am sure you have done all these checks.
