Does anyone know of everything that's needed from a donor 22re to convert an 82 22r to efi?

ECU, Wiring Harness, Fuel pump, Intake manifold... That's just off the top of my head, I'm sure there is more.

 

Will the 22re intake manifold bolt onto my 22r head?

 

All the air intake system Afm Air filter Housing

All the sensors to tell the ecu what is going on

You also need a new fuel filter and the correct lines for the EFI pressure

 

It seems like it's a pretty big undertaking..

Can anyone chime in who's done the conversion?

 

82 22r block wont have a knock sensor. You are going to need a EFi fuel tank. I tried to convert an early style block to EFI. The Celicas were fuel injected and I think that were some think the earlier blocks could be converted to EFI. I tried to use a trucks intake and the bolt holes were just about oppisite. You will need an 85 or newer block. The fuse box under the hood looks the same between the 22r and 22re but there is a plug or two that is wired a little different. Mostly that I know of is the blower motor.

I will be converting a 22r to a 22re later on when I get the chance. It is a fairly large size job. Best to get all of the parts off of the same truck.

Were you planning on using the 82 block?

 

I have done it and it is a big job. Finding an excellent harness is a job in itself. The truck will look like it came out of a salvage yard when it is tore down. About as big of a job as changing the heater core. I dont think the 84 an older blocks have a place for the fuel filter as well. Been a while since I seen an older block.

Also the tank on the left is for a fuel injected truck.Bigger opening to allow for the fuel pump to fit in. The tank on the right is carbed and it may not show in picture is but is smaller. This tank came off of a 2wd truck.

If you get serious about it, pm and me and I can give you alot more information about it. It is doable, but it is something that you need alot more information on. It would take a book to write it all out and I might document my next swap I do here in the near future as it does come up fairly often.
