1980 pickup 4x4 what would you do to it.

I am a newbie on the small trucks and I have recently purchased one and now the project begins. So far I have pulled motor got a 85 22r built bottom up new add ons DUI ignition, obx long tube header, often houser intake, webber 32/46 carb. Now my real question would be how strong is the rest of the power train. Thank you in advance for any info.

First welcome to YT and the Yota obsession.
2. Its a Yota, 22R will run and run and run and run, the drivetrain will out last the body, especially the bed.
Is the tranny and t case the stock 1980 or is it from the 85? If its the stock 80, Id find a 5 speed to go with the 22R and run that. If the engine is built, putting that 4 speed behind just wont let the 22R run at its top potential

It has the. 5 speed. pure off road truck so correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't the four speed be a little tougher. I have 488 gears f and r but haven't decided on what lockers yet.

Both the 4 & 5 speed are strong. Is it gonna be trailered out to trails or driven? If your gonna drive it I'd go 5speed. Just my 2¢.
