so, Ive got an 86 pickup, w/the 22r engine, 5 speed..its been doing great for an older truck w/only 185k miles on it. then, today, while driving in 5th gear, it starts to act like the engines "bogged" down, and starts to act up...I dropped it into 4th, and same thing. slowed down to about 40, in 3rd, and no better..crept into work with it still doing the same thing. at lunch I drove it around, and same thing. not sure whats going on. first thought was bad gas, but not sure that's it. this is the second time its done this. any suggestions would be much appreciated, as I am NOT a mechanic.

I don't have a lot of experience with carbs, but it sounds like it might be starved for fuel. Maybe a clogged fuel filter or a fuel pump that's starting to give up the ghost...

thanks guys for the help..as for challenge, im always up for it, and welcome it..but at the same time, am not above asking for help or taking it somewhere. I WISH I only had the time to tinker and take apart and learn, but at this very time, im not quite there(but will be within the year)...this maybe the wrong place to ask, but how do I go about checking the fuel filter? the "starving for fuel" suggestion kinda sounds like what I was thinking the truck was acting like..THANK YOU TO ALL IN ADVANCE
