Interest in a GROUP BUY for synthetic winch rope

Ok I ordered a warn winch last week. Hopefully it should be coming in soon. and I had thought about getting a synthetic rope to go with it. But when I saw the cost. It was a quick no go. But then there was anther thread over the weekend with a link to Rockstompers, where they are selling it for $150. So I was getting ready to order one this morning when the thought occured to me. Why dont' we try to get a group buy on this too. I know that many of you have considered running a synthetic. Lets get an honest show of hands of how many people would be interested in something like this. The cost is already about $150, so hopefully it would be a bit more less then that. With that in mind, let me know so I can e-mail them with a number of how many we would be interested in. If someone already has a relationship with them or with someone else who supplies synthetic winch lines. Feel free to chime in also.

Already got mine! Even at the price they sell them at it's a great deal, and much safer

Did you think it might be some what important to contact Scott and see if he would do a price drop on his stuff?

IIRC, the price just went up at the first of the year, so I would find it hard to believe he could drop it again.

Well my plan was to find out how many orders I can get together here, and then go and ask "hey I want to place like 10-15 orders, can I get a discount?"
Instead of just asking "hey I don't know how many I want yet, can I get a discount?"

But in any case, I did contact him a few minutes ago, and he said he wouldn't be able to drop the price. So unless anyone knows of somewhere else, I guess this is a no go.

You may want to try Dave at Off Road Recovery. We did a group buy with him on recovery straps back in September, and he was great to work with. I didn't see winch line separate on his site, but they could probably get it if they don't sell it.

They also have a link for group buy requests now:

Let him know you found him through Yotatech!

ok so this is the reply I got back from Dave at Off road recovery saying that the size we need is 5/16th x 100 and Rockstomper's cost is $139. Not $150 like I had thought earlier b/c I had looked at the price for 3/8 X 80.

So lets make sure what the right size is. So if someone could just confirm that it is 5/16th x 100.

He then said he does not currently sell synthetic rope, but that this would be the perfect time to start. and that he would have no problem looking into a group buy price for this. So if this is the right size were looking at a price less then $139. Which is easly doable.

So someone please confirm the right size, and lets get this rolling. By the way Dave was a really polite guy.

I'm in!

But I was thinking of going to 150' or even 200' if it would fit on a M8000 spool. My line of thinking here is that with 200' of line, then I could get a 100' reach with a snatch block.

I would perfer 3/8, because thats what i have now, but i guess if the synthetic is strong enough to work for a 9,500 lBS winch that will be fine.

Also, i don't know if you where making fun of us, or WARN, but here you are. It may be a misprint, if you say you can get it to us for $139, thats cool.

I personally have synthetic rope from Rockstomper so as a fairlead and couldn't be happier. My fear of breaking a metal cable and hearting some one or my self is gone. I posted about Warn rope just for Information and had no Idea how ridicules that price is.

Cool

They (Warn) must be retarded if they think people are going to line up for that when we can get it at 1/4 the price. What, are they trying to be more like Jaos (overcharge)?

That synthetic line sounds nice. Sorry i'm not in. Thats on my list of things to get though.
