4BT/R154 alternate input shaft length

Hello!

I have been debating for a long time the type of swap I have been wanting to do, and I believe I have narrowed it down, but I need some help.

Advance Adapters makes a kit that will bolt a pre 1996 R150 to the Cummins 4BT. Problem is, I want to use a R154 tranny, which has the longer input shaft, so the kit just barely won't cut it. They guy at advance adapters told me he believed that the R154 came with a 6.5" input shaft at one time.

So my question is... Is this guy just pulling my chain? Everything I have ever found on the R154 is it has a 7.25" input shaft. Does anyone have any other secret knowledge about the R154? I am after fuel mileage and the R154, with swapped 5th R150 gears, will give me the perfect transmission behind the 4BT.

Thanks!
