Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. Well, technically I've been reading posts on this forum without being a member for a few weeks now.

I just bought a 94 4runner with the 3 slow, and I was surprised by the terrible gas mileage and lack of power uphill. Plus I'm at 185k and so I've started looking into swapping in a different engine. I like the 7mgte route the best so far, and I found a great deal on a 7mgte engine, turbo, ecu, etc...

Before I take the leap and get ready for the swap, I want to know if the a340h transmission I have will bolt directly to it.

Also any help on how the wiring/ecu would work with a setup like that would be appreciated.

Also, I've searched around the swaps section quite a bit to find the information I need, but most posts generally talk about the R150F or W58 trannys and only vaguely mention the a340h.

both the a340e and a340h were used on the 3vz, and the a340e was used on the 7m, so it should bolt right up, and they have the same gear ratios, so give it a try. As for support, try this guy... http://spoolymcbooster.com/

why not just go 3.4? it's the simplest swap of all other options, and if you know anything about the 7mgte, that "great deal" will need a couple hundred dollars minimum at the machine shop, and fresh Toyota gaskets and ARP hardware throughout to make it as reliable as you want it to be. If you plan on boosting higher than stock and running big HP/TQ numbers, you'll need a beefier build. check out supramania for the friendliest knowledge on these engines.
