I just bought a 1995 Toyota Tacoma xtracab 4x4 with the 2.7L 3RZ-FE 5spd, motor in pieces in the bed. The only motor I have managed to find locally complete is a 1998 Tacoma xtracab 4x4 auto 10/98 mfg date 3rz with about 150k.

My question is can I swap this slightly newer motor into the '95 without major problems, i.e. sensors/manifolds/injectors/etc. If there are several things like sensors, afm, etc that is fine because I have the entire core motor in pieces.

 

The major problem might be swapping to the manual ECM either re pin the automatic harness to fit the manual ECM

It might be easier to just swap the engine harness from the manual ECM

You might get lucky and the plugs will be the same

In case you should have the EWD from both vehicles.

I guess it all comes down to your idea of major problems
