Head Gasket, on a 240K+ motor, Good idea?
#1
I'm a newbie. Just bought a 1990 runner with 240,000 miles. The head gasket blew within 2 months of purchase. Truck is in incredibly awesome condition overall. Is it worth doing a head gasket/timing belt/water pump change out?

3.0 I'm new to engine repair. I pulled heads and tested for warping by placing clean head on my jointer outfeed table. Could't fit a .015 feeler gauge under any part so I think they are good. I don't know if I should take it to someone who knows what they are looking at.

yeah. take both the heads to a machine shop. fyi thats not how you check how straight something is. you take a TRUE straight edge, meaning you know 100% that its perfectly straight, (not a ruler, not a table, not a level, nothing but an actual straight edge), and hold it against the surface 3 ways, diagonally both ways and straight across long ways. and get the the heads pressure tested, and decked. check the block. if its not straight youre gonna have to pull it and get it decked aswell. good luck. its a lot of work if you're new to it. IF you decide its too much work. you may want to look into a 3.4 swap. reliable, more powerful motor, and its an easy swap. tons of threads on it.
