Whats missing from my Washer fluid reservoir?

The only thing that doesn't work on my 89 4Runner is the washer fluid reservoir. When I hit the button in the cab, the system hums loudly, as if there is a pump present somewhere.

The tank doesn't hold fluid.

I pulled the tank expecting to repair a crack, and found that there is a small line running to it (and attached down the tanks side) and then there is a hole with a rubber grommet and a screen down below. Obviously something goes here that is missing.

Is it the pump?

The tank is dumping out the fluid because something is not attached there, so there is just a hole with a rubber washer and screen, and a disconnected small line waiting to be attached there.

Where can I get this part? Thanks!

It just dawned on me that if I press the button and hear a humming, that perhaps the pump is dangling by its wiring harness somewhere under the hood....

Or, does the system hum with that item missing upon pressing the button?

I found the old pump stashed behind the battery, all rotted to pieces. I got a replacement at an auto parts store, and did the job quickly and easily.

Better yet, take a few photos of your installation, and share the part number of the replacement pump.

I agree. I broke my pump when I was doing something a while back and need to find a replacement. The junk yard ones are not in great shape
