So I just spent the last couple hours troubleshooting my no start problem. Finally figure out how to put my AFM back together and it started back up. Problem is now a rough idle. Any chance this could still be AFM related? I had no issues with rough idle before I messed up the AFM. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Are you throwing a check engine light? If so, diagnose it and share what you get?

What have you done to the truck recently (since it last ran)? Senders for temp coolant (and their wiring) can get mucked up, causing bad idle (I'm going through this now after my head job - messed up a thermo sensor so the ECU doesn't know when my engine it warmed up and it stays in cold start mode.

 

No CEL. I was stupid and pulled the 2 screws out of the AFM and disconnected/broke some stuff on the inside. I soldered the connections back, but am afraid that it still may be the AFM that is causing the issue.

Kinda sounds like you toasted it.
There is a thread from someone who repaired theirs IIRC
But in most cases if you have (some stuff) broke, it probably will never work properly again.

Like suggested from "Philbert" test it to be sure.

UPDATE: so I switched out the AFM and it solved the problem. Luckily my Dad had a 92 that is out of service and I was able to nab another part off of it. Thanks for the help fellas.
